| The Fall of Romney, Inc.
In fairness to Team Romney, they did more right than not. They rose from single digits in the national polls to receiving 32% of the primary votes cast to date. They became the conservative establishment's choice. They leveraged mechanical and resource superiority into solid leads in Iowa and New Hampshire, giving Rudy Giuliani pause about competing in the early states and chasing John McCain from Iowa. They leveraged their candidate's mastery of pat, 60-second answers into dominance (and rising poll numbers) out of the first debates. They met their goal of winning Ames, and got a bump. They met their goal of 30,000 votes in the Iowa Caucus. Nearly all of the benchmarks set by Romney, Inc. were met — and often with flying colors. They checked every box they needed to become the nominee.
Couple basks in sunny glow of victory after winning free solar power
The seemingly endless sunshine that illuminated Tracy this week seems the perfect initiation for a new home solar system. At least, Bryan and Stacey Watson sure think so.The couple beat out 15,000 contestants to win a free home solar system through BP Solar and "Evan Almighty," a Universal Pictures movie that was filmed using energy from solar panels. The Watsons, with their 1-year-old son, Chance, basked in their win Thursday while a team from 1st Light Energy Inc. installed 25 solar panels on top of their home, which sits just north of Schulte Road. The system comes with a wireless module that shows how many kilowatts the panels have converted into energy and how much energy the family's used on any given day.The Watson's utility bills typically range from $150 in the winter to $250 during the heat of summer.
HOT live music at Super Thursday!
He did it well, too, pumping out a tight set that turned the massive crowd here into a sea of bouncing heads. Hip-hop/R&B group Next took the stage after Pokafase. They pretty much walked off the red carpet and onto the stage. Joey Fatone just walked by me. Anyway, Next sounded impeccable. Their smooth groove was perfect for slow dancing in this brisk weather. They ended their set with their single "Wifey," and left the stage to DJ Roonie G, who spun a scribble fest filled with fierce beats and samples from everyone from Kanye West to Prince. The crowd is going nuts behind me. Somebody's screaming for Jennifer Love-Hewitt. Not sure if she's actually here. We'll be getting Diddy with it shortly. We hope. .
Mesquite, Nev., boasts a fair way to play
Las Vegas got to be too big and too expensive and too crazy,'' he said. ``Here, you look out at night and it's quiet and the stars are out, and you don't hear any traffic.'' In two sentences, Longlas came close to summing up what makes Mesquite appealing for a growing number of visitors. Situated 80 miles northeast of Las Vegas, the town of about 1,800 offers Vegas-style amenities -- quality golf, a desert climate, mountain scenery and gambling -- but at a lower price and a more relaxed, congestion-free pace. Mesquite has six golf courses and seven hotels -- four of which are casino hotels -- and two spas. It is growing, but far from overgrown. On the north side of Interstate 15, which cuts through the heart of Mesquite, bulldozers crawl around the vast stretches of desert just beyond the edge of town.
Wreckage To Get Detailed Exam
Sunday, members of the Phoenix police dive team entered a murky pond at Steele Indian School Park to look for pieces from the wrecked helicopters. Divers reportedly struggled in sticky mud inside the pond near the site of the crash. After several hours, the divers recovered a door from the ABC 15 helicopter along with a pair of binoculars and other debris. .
