| Sheriff Blotter: Woman Denies Hit & Run Despite Evidence On Car
SUMMIT COUNTY, Colo. -- A citizen who witnessed a hit-and-run between a silver sports car and a red Subaru in a Summit County parking lot did more than call the sheriff. The witness got a license plate number of the silver sports car before it took off. A sheriff's deputy responding to the call found a red Subaru with damage and paint scratched off. In the police report obtained by 7NEWS, the officer noted "the Subaru was pulled all the way in to the parking spot and was not sticking out into the roadway at all." The officer then went in search of the other vehicle. Using the license plate number, he tracked the vehicle to a home in the Keystone area. .
For Carmakers, High Performance Equals High Profit
In March, Lexus is launching a high-performance division. Called the F—for "Flagship"—the first model will be the sporty, $56,765 Lexus IS F. Several more F models are in the pipeline, including a luxury sedan and an SUV-wagon crossover. This represents a radical departure for Lexus, which has enjoyed enormous success as Toyota's (TM) luxury brand, despite being often faulted by driving enthusiasts for making cars that are unexciting, albeit attractive, well-built, and competitively priced. Now obviously Toyota's top brass wants to change this impression—and that is something that should concern executives at the high-performance divisions of its luxury rivals, specifically Mercedes-Benz (DAI), BMW (BMWG), and, increasingly, Audi (NSUG). Mercedes offers an AMG version of nearly every model it sells, including light trucks.

We are entering the last weekend before Christmas and I am sure everyone is scrambling to get all of their last-minute shopping and holiday preparations ready. A shopper interviewed by a local TV news crew last week had some obvious but good advice that this is not a time to be stressed, but to enjoy. Easy to say. As adults, many of us have a number of stressful responsibilities on our shoulders at this time of year. One of if not the largest is the financial burden created by the customary holiday celebrations. The other stresses include the time and effort required to make sure the holidays are fun for everyone we care about. The magnitude of these stresses is readily observable as we see suicide rates rise dramatically this time of the year. The best advice I can give is to do the best you can and realize that your financial and personal health and sanity depend on not trying to do, expect or demand too much from the holidays.
Homes blend eco-friendliness, unique design
Theres been quite a buzz around town lately about energy and water conservation practices, and for years so-called green building has been a hit.
However a few homes in Truckee were built eco-friendly, not just to save heat and money, but because theyre just plain interesting.
One with the Earth
Sue and Jeff Cauhape have been living in their Tahoe Donner, earth berm home for 12 years. The couple maintains that, despite being for-the-most-part covered in dirt, their home is very bright and inviting.
Its not dark inside at all; we were surprised by how much light there was, Sue Cauhape said. We tried to sell it for two years, but I dont think a lot of people get the concept. Its odd, but weve been very comfortable here.
Comfort inside the home can be attributed to its thermal mass the walls absorb and retain heat, so the house requires neither heater nor air conditioner.
